Censorship Conservative vs Liberal

Censorship is an interesting issue because nobody opposes it in principal but once its put into action people dislike it. An example is given in our textbook about how most people are strong advocates of free speech, but these same people would not allow the KKK to march down their street. Censorship is just as murky of a subject in the realm of Republicans vs Democrats as well. It seems that whenever the Republicans attempt to censor the Democrats a large commotion is made and the first amendment is being infringed upon. This article discusses how Democrats claimed that the GOP was censoring parts of their proposed bill. However, the Democrats are guilty of censorship themselves. In this article the Democrats chose to not allow people to say the term "government run health care" because it did not help their cause. Censorship is interesting because it appears that no matter how hated it is, individuals, or political parties, will always be in favor of it when it favors them. It is a very difficult thing to keep an open mind about, considering the KKK is very legally allowed to march in our streets, but one must look at all ends of the spectrum when dealing with such an important issue. The Republicans and Democrats are both advocates of keeping censorship out of politics and our government, but both are guilty of censoring the other group at one point or another.
