Stem cell research is controversial among many and especially the rift between republicans and democrats. Less then half of republicans are in favor of stem cell research while a little more then two thirds of the democratic party are in favor are stem cell research. On the whole, 6 in 10 Americans agree that embryonic stem cell research is an acceptable medical practice. Support to fund the research is varied. Of the republicans, 58% are in opposition while of the democrats, 70% support federal funding.
I would favor on the side of democrats that stem cell research is an acceptable measure to aid millions of Americans with medical issues and may be great help to other nations and a step for the medical field as a whole. I do however have one stipulation in researching stem cells, Any loss of life to better then field would be unacceptable. Federal funding should exist not only for stem cell research but for all diseases, illnesses, and institutions whom the government accredits to be a worth while investment to improve the quality of living for people. The method that stem cells are researched (embryos or otherwise) is completely up to the scientists. I feel that medical research is fundamental and should be exercised in all medical diseases regardless of cost and the only limit to it should be if it questions the quality of life for others.
