The Environment

A pretty clear divide can be drawn between the liberal and conservative view points on the status of the environment and our responsibility towards it. Generally, the Republican view is that environmental stewardship is not something the government needs to regulate (partially because it is pretty complicated and expensive) but also because Republicans tend to believe that responsibility for then environment is on an individual basis. Democrats, on the other hand, believe in government action to protect the environment. Democrats usually support legislation on clean air and water or efficient energy, because despite the cost associated with them, Democrats believe the health of Americans' and the strength of the economy depend on environmental stewardship. This is a link to an article containing many graphs that show the divide between Republicans and Democrats on environmental issues.
