Restricting the presidency to natural-born citizens caused quite a stir in class last week. I would have shown you guys the whole video where journalist Jon Meacham--who wrote an AWESOME biography of Andrew Jackson, by the way--explains why he thinks this clause in the Constitution is no longer necessary. Does the historical context of these kinds of decisions matter? And if the reasons that produced these kinds of restrictions are no longer relevant, should we take a second look? I think Meacham makes a compelling case:
