Military

The Federalists, who wanted a strong central government, were concerned that state goverments would compete with each other militarily. Therefore, they supported a strong national military. People feared that the national military would be used to enforce federal laws (as it would be during the Whiskey Rebellion). A comprimise was reached, maintaining a small national army and local militias.
