Federal Gov't and Stem Cell Research
Obama passed a legislation forcing tax payers to provide for embryonic stem cell research and it was recently challenged with a lawsuit that made it through a district court but was over turned by a federal court of appeals. The issue that rose from the suit was that Obama could force tax payers to fund research that has yet to aid any patience. The article also mentions that Obama overturned several previous laws that funded the research without any destruction to embryos and goes on to list several things that the Bush administration did to advance the field. Following those arguments the article bashes Obama for overturning the many legislation of the Bush administration which protected tax payer's dollar from funding the research. The popular thought from the public was 33% for federal funding and 57% opposed. Nothing has been brought to question the constitutionality of the situation. Only that the federal government cannot allocate funds to research and create embryos, or clone embryos. However, Obama's executive order defeats that anyways.
